I know that to become one, you need to not only answer a good amount of questions in a specific category, but also have some of those answers be "Best Answers".

I just received my Top Contributor badge yesterday and I was just answering and I went to log back in my profile and it just appeared. I was exstatic because I had been working really hard to get one. I also just had fun in the community. Answered questions by giving good honest answers and not just leaving one word answers, thorough answers that are informative and I contributed a lot to my category this way. Just stick to a category of your enjoyment, try to aim for at least 200 points per week, my advice is 300, but 200 is fine. Rumor is 10 percent best answer but do not focus on that. Just focus on contributing consistently and giving informative answers to the best of your ability, be honest and sincere and you will have one in no time.

- It's completely random. I got the badge a few months ago and I only had 12% best answers.

Former top contributor. - No one knows how many but just answer A LOT. Give good answers so you get chosen nest answer. You need 10% best answer.
- A "Top Contributor" is an expert in from one to three categories. It is available in every category except "polls and surveys" and "jokes and riddles".
The exact qualifications are kept secret but rumors indicate that it is a minimum of 10% best answers and about 40-50 individual answers in the category every month.
Once you get the badge you must keep up your activity in the category or you will lose it.
₪ ɦəlʞɹɐq ₪ - It's more complicated than that. You have to have a certain numbers of points and certain percentage of best answers, BUT I have been a Top Contributor many times and lost the badge many times depending upon whether or not I have been on Yahoo much that month.
